On July 14th, Rago is pleased to present the most significant collection of wood art ever to come to auction with nearly 100 lots altogether in Crafted in Wood: The Stephen Weinroth Collection.

Highlights of Crafted in Wood

Assembled over the course of several decades, this comprehensive collection is brimming with exceptional examples by artists from around the world who push the limits of formal boundaries using an array of familiar and exotic wood types.

Highlights of particular note in the Crafted in Wood auction are: multiple works by William Hunter, including an upright, walnut composition, Into the Wind, and a squat, round rosewood Jazz Basket; various examples from Ron Layport, such as his biomorphic, maple Dragonflies and Wolf Spirit; Miriam Carpenter's sleek, black-and-white Find Your Bearings; and some J. Paul Fennell works with impressive weaving or latticework, including his African sumac Spiral (from the Rhythmic Patterns series).

Other important wood artists with works on offer are: Grant Vaughan, Jacques Vesery, Harvey Fein, Binh Pho, Joël Urruty, Bud Latven, and Philip and Matt Moulthrop.
