All proceeds from the sale of this work, including the 25% buyer's premium, will benefit the James Renwick Alliance.

My work explores and in turn reveals the understated, ephemeral aspects of our world—whispers, innuendo, and intimacy—and offers a space for their contemplation.

Nicole Chesney

Featured in the collection of the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Nicole Chesney describes her luminous, enigmatic works as “ nonrepresentational renderings of abstract spaces.” Born in Cinnaminson New Jersey, Chesney studied at the California College of Arts and Craft and received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art in 1997, and went on to receive her MFA from the Canberra School of Art in Canberra, Australia. In addition to the Smithsonian, Chesney’s works are held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Palm Springs Art Museum, and the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts.

Rago is pleased to present five unique lots sold to benefit the James Renwick Alliance for Craft and their mission and programs to further promote public appreciation and education of American Craft. This exciting collection includes works by American artists Nicole Chesney, Garry Knox Bennett, John Garrett, Marc Maiorana, and Michael Sherrill.

All lots in the James Renwick Alliance for Craft Auction are of the primary market, unless otherwise indicated. They are being sold with all proceeds going to the James Renwick Alliance (JRA) and will be shipped directly from the artist or the gallery. For each of these lots, Rago is waiving the seller’s commission and donating the buyer’s premium in full to the JRA.
