Wyatt Kahn is a contemporary American artist known for his distinctive sculptural paintings that blur the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and drawing. Born in 1983 in New York City, Kahn earned his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and later completed his MFA at Hunter College in New York. He emerged on the art scene in the early 2010s, gaining recognition for his innovative use of materials and minimalist yet expressive compositions.

Kahn’s signature works are often constructed from linen-covered MDF panels arranged into bold, geometric configurations. These multi-part panels resemble puzzle pieces or flattened reliefs, with clean lines and sharp divisions that invite the viewer to consider spatial relationships and form. Though abstract, Kahn’s compositions frequently hint at figuration, narrative, or domestic motifs, offering a play between structure and content. His exploration of dimensionality and surface reflects influences from Minimalism, Cubism, and post-war modernism, while remaining distinctly his own.

Over time, Kahn has expanded his practice to include metal sculptures, drawings, and more recent colorful oil paintings that explore similar formal concerns with a heightened sense of playfulness and visual rhythm. His work often investigates the relationships between object and image, the illusion of depth, and the nature of materials themselves.

Kahn’s work has been exhibited widely in solo and group shows, including at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis, and the Museo di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto (MART) in Italy. His pieces are held in major public and private collections worldwide.
