Jere Osgood is a leading studio furniture maker and teacher of woodworking and furniture. Born and raised in Staten Island, New York he would go on to study architecture at the University of Illinois before leaving to enroll at School of American Craftsman program at Rochester Institute of Technology where he studied with Danish designer Tage Frid. By the 1960s he had established his own studio in Connecticut where he developed a new technique for tapered, bent laminated wood. Osgood continues to work from a studio in Wilton, New Hampshire and is a member of the New Hampshire Furniture Masters Association and the Furniture Society. He is widely recognized as an important force in the American studio furniture movement, having taught at the Program in Artisanry at Boston University with Dan Jackson and Alphonse Mattia.
