“I work for that which is between the visible and invisible, but not the metaphysical. The metallic collage is my first attempt to describe the state between light and shadow; however, I cannot find a word for that state. Perhaps it is a relationship, a kind of reality.
At the moment my idea slips into substance– the act of becoming existence from idea– that is the freshness, the reality that has meaning to me.
The materials, as I use them, disregard color and line. These elements have been eliminated. Also, with the metallic medium I feel more remote from the commonly used art materials which people come to with preconceptions and prejudices. In its finished state I hope my work has a precise meaning which ordinary art materials cannot convey.”
