VVV was an experimental New York-based magazine published in only four issues between 1942-1944. Devoted to the dissemination of Surrealism, the magazine featured contributions from avant-garde artists such as Andre Breton, Leonora Carrington, Marc Chagall, Roberto Matta, Girgio de Chirico, Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Andre Masson, Joan Miro, and Dorothea Tanning among others, many who had come to New York as exiles at the outbreak of World War II.
This double issue (Numbers 2 and 3) from March 1943 with cover by Marcel Duchamp (lacking chicken-wire inset) was edited by David Hare with the assistance of Andre Breton, Max Ernst, and Marcel Duchamp.
