Created during a weekend spent with Walton B. McDaniel at the home of Robert Mack in Mt. Vernon, NY, Calder amused his hosts one night by sketching portraits paper bags, which were then thrown out into the wastebasket. The next morning, Walton McDaniel, covertly retrieved this, his favorite drawing, to frame as a memento.
