Fields fallow to their full ripeness
Skin of eggplant, inside and out
Ripples converging on the frog pond
Light, shade, veils, fog, haze, stubble, tassel...
These are the things I look at but they are not my subjects.
My subject is the STROKE. A color event sets me off.
From the ground of the canvas to the final layer of
paint I work at maintaining a life of stroke and color
— to make a live painting.
