Fields fallow to their full ripeness

Skin of eggplant, inside and out

Ripples converging on the frog pond

Light, shade, veils, fog, haze, stubble, tassel...

These are the things I look at but they are not my subjects. 

My subject is the STROKE. A color event sets me off. 

From the ground of the canvas to the final layer of

paint I work at maintaining a life of stroke and color

— to make a live painting.
