Stewart Paley was born in New York in 1940. He studied art at the High School of Music and Art in New York and the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh and moved to Vancouver in 1972. His work has been exhibited throughout New York and Canada, at galleries such as Third Avenue Gallery, Vancouver, Richmond Art Gallery, British Columbia, Queen Elizabeth Playhouse, Vancouver and Allan Stone Gallery, New York, among others. Paley is the two-time recipient of the British Columbia Arts Council award, and a three-time grant recipient from the Canada Council. The artist lives and works in Vancouver.
