Ron Schwerin b. 1940
In his nude portraits, Ron Schwerin evokes private moments of feminine languor, charged with an understated, yet powerful, eroticism. Executed in the manner of Balthus, these works are steeped in art history while exemplifying a particularly contemporary mode of beauty and sexuality and allowing the model's distinct personality to emerge. Ron Schwerin was born in 1940 in Pittsburgh, and received his BFA from the Pratt Institute, New York in 1962. He is a two-time recipient of the Prix de Rome scholarships and has exhibited widely across the United States.
