The Art and Design of Douglas Little
Founder of Heretic Parfum and brainchild behind Goop’s now-infamous This Smells Like My Vagina candle, Douglas Little is perhaps best known for his boutique, small-batch perfumes. Little studied marketing and product development at UCLA and spent years working for prominent companies in the beauty and cosmetics industries before founding his namesake business: D.L. & Co.: Modern Alchemists and Purveyors of Curious Goods. He applies his personal aesthetic, described as “a combination of Edwardian decadence, Asian mystery and contemporary rock-n-roll edginess”, to a wide range of products from candles and jewelry to glass and home accessories.
Beyond perfume and D.L. & Co., Little is a noted designer of corporate window displays, products, and advertising, for clients such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Barney’s New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Harry Winston, Nasher Sculpture Museum and the Dallas Museum of Art. His unique combination of antique luxury and edgy modernism is readily apparent in each of his creations.
