The Post-Pictures Generation Pictures of Elad Lassry
Born in Tel Aviv and based in Los Angeles, Elad Lassry is a provocateur of pictures writ-large. Sometimes described as a post-Pictures Generation artist, Lassry creates his photographs at the scale of magazine spreads and borrows historical traditions and tropes of commercial photography to generate uniquely complicated images. “I’m fascinated by the collapse of histories, and the confusion that results when there is something just slightly wrong in a photograph," Lassry has explained. He often adds further dimension to his pictures with carefully considered artist frames, bringing the work into the realm of sculpture, and has frequently exhibited works in tandem with 16mm film projections.

Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, Turner Contemporary, and the 54th Venice Biennial.
