In 1976 Carlo Crocco left a job with Italy’s Binda Group and moved to Switzerland, forming MDM Geneve and setting out to design a watch he named Hublot after the French word for “porthole.” His creation featured the first natural rubber strap in the history of watchmaking and it quickly became a commercial success with $2 million in sales its first year. A relative newcomer to the luxury timepiece market, he officially founded his company, named Hublot, in 1980.

The philosophy at Hublot is “Be the first, be unique, be different,” and the company’s dedication to this ideal allowed them to forge their own path in a fiercely competitive timepiece market. They combine traditional watchmaking techniques and knowledge with cutting edge technologies and unexpected materials, making exciting and unique pieces and constantly pushing the boundaries of horological innovation.
