Nuala Jamison (1948-2016) was considered an innovator in the specialty of acrylic jewelry. Born in Northern Ireland, much of her inspiration came from the Irish coastline as well as city landscapes. She began her studies at Belfast, then focused on jewelry design at Central Saint Martins in London. As she progressed in her career, Jamison became an art educator of jewelry at Morley College in London. She chose to focus on how the wearer interpreted color and light, developing new ways of dyeing acrylic to heighten their reflectiveness. Jamison dually played with bold, contrasting colors, while other times choosing softly shaded hues.
