About Your Personal Data: Rago Arts uses 128 bit encryption to transmit sensitive information to our servers over SSL. Buyer’s premium: All auction houses make their money in part by charging an advertised percentage of the winning bid to the buyer. Winning bid + buyer’s premium = the total amount owed to the auction house. Just factor the buyer’s premium in when deciding how much to bid. Rago’s buyer’s premium is 25% on the first $200,000 of the hammer price, 20% on the value between $200,000 and $3 million. For all online bidding, a buyer’s premium in the amount of 28% on the first $200,000 of the hammer price, 23% on the value between $200,000 and $3 million.
The buyer’s premium on coins and currency only will be 20.5% discounted to 17.5% if paid by check, cash, or wire transfer within 15 days. For all online bidding (coins and currency only), a buyer’s premium of 23.5 % discounted to 20.5% if paid by check, cash, or wire transfer within 15 days.
For purchases made either in the room or by phone or by absentee bid and paid for by Visa, MasterCard, Discover or PayPal: A 2% surcharge will be added to the total of the hammer price, buyer’s premium and any applicable taxes.
New Jersey State Sales Tax If you are shipping to a New Jersey address or if you pick up the lots you have won at our New Jersey location, you must pay the State’s 7% sales tax. The only exception is for those who hold a valid resale license and file the completed New Jersey State Sales Tax Form (New Jersey Seller’s Certificate Form ST3 (PDF) or Non New Jersey Seller’s Certificate Form ST-3NR (PDF)) with Rago’s. Please note that if you are having your property shipped out of the State of New Jersey, you do not have to pay New Jersey sales tax.
Resale License Sales tax is charged on all sales of physical goods in New Jersey. A resale license is required in order to avoid paying sales tax on items you are going to resell. If you are buying property for resale, you must provide a copy of your resale license with your payment. See above.
Return Policy: Auction property is sold “as is”, without warranties or guarantees, like a retail store’s final sale. Typically, this means that no return privileges will be granted. Buyers are solely responsible for their decision to bid. The exception to this at Rago’s concerns authenticity. When we state that property is by a specific maker, we afford the buyer a 30 day grace period in which to have authenticity affirmed by an outside expert acceptable to both parties should he so wish.
