Every woman should own a single piece that is a sort of personal talisman. It doesn’t matter what the piece is; it’s the importance that you give to it.
Born and raised in Virginia, childhood trips to Italy and Thailand proved to be pivotal moments in Elizabeth Locke’s life that would shape her future career. Entranced by the historical monuments of Italy and the unique gemstones and baubles in Thailand, she went on to obtain an Italian literature graduate degree from the University of Florence as well as a degree in gemology. She successfully ran her first business in Italy before returning to the United States where she worked as a contributing editor for Town and Country magazine and then founding Elizabeth Locke Jewels in 1988.
Locke has been designing wearable distinct statement jewelry for over 30 years and her company has flourished into a successful business with two flagship locations in New York and Virginia. A lifelong lover of antiques, each piece of Locke’s jewelry is an expression of her curiosity and interest in history. Locke ventures on what she calls her “continual treasure hunt” for objects like ancient coins, 19th century micromosaics, and Venetian glass intaglios made from 17th century molds. A team of 35 Thai goldsmiths then execute her distinctive designs with a burnished or hammered finish.
