I forge; extrude; bend; file; solder; fuse gold; etch; sandblast; and polish. I am fascinated by the marriage of metals...Fluid motion, visual or literal, is a key element in all of my work.
Aaron Macsai fell into jewelry making at the young age of 13 due to an accident he suffered while playing soccer. Unable to play, he was itching to do something to keep his hands occupied and discovered the world of jewelry fabrication. Drawn to the technical aspects of metalsmithing, Macasi has put years into learning both new and old techniques that are reflected in his intricate and precise designs. He has spent the majority of his career developing and refining what he refers to as “Pattern metal”, a process of combining cross-section slices of the silver and copper patterns he creates with elements of 18 karat gold. Macsai has shown his work extensively at the American Craft Exposition in Chicago, the American Craft Council San Francisco Show, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show.
