The Language of Lines
Works by Jonathan Lasker
Lasker’s painting process is unmistakable. His complete and submersing line quality is distinctly his own. No single line is random, skewed, partial or accidental in any of his compositions; Lasker’s exacting applications of paint are arduous and never erroneous. The surface of each painting grows out of the medium the way trees grow in forest. A completed painting, therefore, is on a time scale sacrosanct to watching trees blossom from buds. As a painter, his enhanced awareness of time is one of his greatest qualities, and transcends the border imposed by the canvas.
My work is often seen as vocabulary, and of course it does have a recurring and consistent language.
