Séraphin Nikolaevich Soudbinine was a French sculptor and ceramist of Russian origin. In 1932, he moved to Paris and studied in the workshop of Auguste Rodin where he served as chief stone carver. Soudbinine also frequently collaborated with Jean Dunand in the realization of design projects. In his later work, he devoted himself increasingly to ceramics and exhibited in New York in the 1920s. His work combines Russian folklore and Chinese art influences.
