Annotation

In the letter that accompanies, Ekpo Eyo (archaeologist, art historian, museologist, author, Nigerian Director of the Federal Department of Antiquities [1968 to 1979]) dates it to the 18th/19th century and describes it as "a very rare, old, and fine wooden sculpture of a hybrid animal whose provenance is uncertain."
