Dan O'Neal is known for his meticulously rendered realist oil paintings. While employing glazing and rendering techniques akin to the Old Masters, O'Neal's paintings describe settings and individuals of the modern era. Born in Madison, Wisconsin in 1956, O'Neal received a BFA from Western Illinois University in 1978, and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1983. He has exhibited accross the United States at institutions including the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Wisconsin; the Fitton Art Museum, Hamilton, Ohio and the George Walter Vincent Art Museum, Springfield, Massachusetts.
