Condition Report

In original, custom, grey-painted portfolio case. Portfolio case shows surface dirt, handling marks and some minor wear and paint loss at the edges. Slight discoloration on interior of portfolio case. Each of the four screenprints on Saunders board are titled, numbered (11/75), signed and dated in pencil along lower edge. All show some scuffs and handling. "Bridget Riley Nineteen Greys" vellum sheet shows handling marks. Small tear with minor loss on left edge. Dark grey print (A) shows a small surface accretion near center and abrasion with pigment loss left edge. Crimp left edge. Minor handling marks and minor scuff marks. Minor dent with paint loss lower edge towards left corner. Colophon vellum shows handling marks, tear with small detached portion lower left edge, several dents and scratches. One large scratched/rubbed area just to the upper right of the text. Odd discoloration in the upper right of the sheet which may be original to the printing. First light grey print (B) shows large crimp on left edge, minor crimps with lifting pigment along bottom edge and discoloration mirroring the discoloration on corresponding overlay. Gene Baro vellum overlay shows many crimps and has some jagged edges with small loss lower corner and other minor losses. Odd splatter pattern visible on this overlay (same tone as color of sheet, but slightly different finish). Second light-grey screenprint (C) shows wear at the corners (especially lower left where top layer of board/pigment is lifting). Horizontal indentation about 3/4" inch from the top edge. Several scuff marks, most significant one is near the left side towards the middle where it seems to have impacted the pigment. Overlay sheet with publisher information shows light scratches overall. Dark-grey screenprint (D) shows minor scuffs and scratches, corners show wear (especially lower left and upper right) where top layer of board is dog-eared wtih some pigment loss. One of the ovals towards the center has a pinkish shift in the upper half. Kelpra stamp with one of each numbers "6979, 6980, 6981 and 6982" on versos. Line print on vellum is signed, numbered (11/30), signed and dated in pencil along lower edge. Minor crimps/dents. Tear with minor loss on left edge. Grey ground card shows minor scuffs/scratches. Large crimp upper left edge. Minor crimps with pigment loss along edges.
