16 The following lot, along with lots 159, 160, and 163, come to us from the collection of Mr. Ezra Stoller, a professional photographer of modern architecture and furnishings. Mr. Stoller was commissioned to take pictures of Naskashima's work starting in 1949, and in that way amassed a collection of his pieces. 31 Rare and important GAETANO PESCE "Up 5" lounge chair, 1972, of molded polyurethane foam fully-upholstered in black stretch nylon. (An icon of the late 1960s Pop Art era, these chairs were part of a series described by Pesce as "transformation" furniture. Pieces were shipped by the manufacturer compressed in a thermosealed vacuum container which, when unsealed, caused the foam to expand back to its original size and fully form within one hour. 281 The following three lots represent works by Cleveland-born artist LAURENCE B. FIELD, an accomplished painter and graphic artist perhaps best-known for his scenic depictions of Colorado landscapes. While his early training included studies at the Cleveland School of Art and the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna, Austria, it was under the tutelage of Boardman Robinson at The Broadmoor Art Academy in Colorado Springs, from 1933-39, that Field came into his own as a masterful landscape painter. His work has been exhibited nationally and graces the permanent collections of several Colorado museums, as well as that of the Cleveland Museum of Art. These pieces have descended through the artist's family: LAURENCE B.
