Where art insiders buy and sell
Rago’s Fine Art department consistently sets records for diverse and significant art at many price points and for all forms of visual expression: painting and sculpture, drawings, prints and illustrated books, installations, photography and video. Its success attracts exceptional and interesting art for its twice-yearly auctions in May and November, as well as distinguished single-owner collections. “We get great exposure and prices for important art that can’t compete for air in the New York evening sales, “says Meredith Hilferty, Rago’s Director of Fine Art. “We also excel with artists who are cutting-edge. We have built up an extensive global clientele for this type of work. Curators, dealers, other auction house specialists and collectors like to deal with Rago’s. We have a proven track record. They know we believe in the artists that they believe in and they like the attention their property gets here. We also don’t skim off the best 5% of a strong collection and pass on the rest.” Rago's is known for an emphasis on the 20th century and the work of emerging and mid-career artists. Top prices achieved for the sale of work by artists from Celmins to Cropsey, Warhol to Redfield.
