The History of the Trenton Porcelain Era
January 31, 2018
On Wednesday, January 31, David Rago will deliver a presentation at the Princeton Senior Resource Center in Princeton, NJ titled “The History of the Trenton Porcelain Era with Rago Arts & Auctions.”
In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Trenton was a center of American pottery and ceramic manufacture, its products shipped from coast to coast. There were firms producing sanitary ware (bathtubs, sinks and toilets), others that made commercial pottery, and a few producing art porcelain of rare refinement and beauty. Join us at the Princeton Senior Resource Center on January 31 when David Rago speaks about the great Trenton porcelain manufacturers, most notably, Ott and Brewer, the firm responsible for some of this nation’s most outstanding art porcelain. Guests will also learn about the artist Isaac Broome, an outstanding 19th Century American sculptor whose works for Ott and Brewer are among the most famous ceramic pieces ever produced in this country. David’s talk will be followed by a Q&A on pottery and porcelain (from Trenton or elsewhere) during which he will appraise a select number of pieces of pottery or porcelain brought in by audience members.
