Estimate: $10,000 - $15,000

Untitled sculpture (Tree), Bally, PA, 1960s
Brass over steel
10" x 13 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Provenance: The Estate of John J. Slocum, Harold Brown Villa, Newport RI

Mr. Slocum was appointed by President Reagan to the Presidential Cultural Property Advisory Committee, and was also a Trustee Emeritus of the Archaeological Institute of America. He was a professional investment advisor as owner of Slocum, Gordon & Co, and a respected scholar/collector whose medieval crusader coins were sold in a single-owner sale at Sotheby’s, London in 1997. He donated what's considered to be the definitive James Joyce collection to the Beinecke Rare Book Library at Yale in 1951, as well as an Ezra Pound collection in 1983. This sculpture sat on John Slocum's desk in his Bellevue Ave. home from when it was first purchased until his estate was liquidated in 2018.

Very good original condition and patina. Small area of verdigris to base.
