AMERICAN ARTS & CRAFTS

Large trestle table, USA, early 20th C.; Carved and stained spruce; Unmarked; 29" x 81 3/4" x 30"; Provenance: Collection of Anton Otto Fischer and Mary Ellen Sigsbee, Woodstock, NY; Descended in the family; Anton Otto Fischer was a noted painter of seascapes, ships, and men at sea who also illustrated numerous classic books including Moby Dick and Treasure Island. Mary Ellen Sigsbee, one of four daughters of famed naval captain Charles D. Sigsbee, was a noted political cartoonist for suffrage, and worked with several of the leading figures in the suffrage movement. She and Anton bought their home in Woodstock, NY in the 1930s and among the many furnishings they purchased was this table.

Condition Report

Overall good condition and original finish. Moderate fading, darkened dings and scratches to top. Minor normal edge wear and nicks throughout.
