Two: Musician and pig, carved stone; Musician signed and dated 1976; Pig: 6" x 13" x 3" (without base); Provenance: Purchased from the artist; Charles Simmons is a self-taught wood carver who turned to carving in stone, inspired by the work of his friend and neighbor, Raymond Coins. Although never as well-known as his mentor, Simmons is equally accomplished and his carvings are in many private and museum collections.
