DAN MILLER (American, b. 1961)
Untitled abstract of overdrawn letters; Ink on paper; Appprox. 22" x 29 1/2" (image); In Dan Millerуs artwork, letters and words are repeatedly overdrawn, often creating ink layered masses, hovering on the page and built up to the point of obliteration or destruction of the ground. Each work contains the written record of the artistуs obsession with objects like light bulbs, electrical sockets, food and the names of cities and people. Miller has had solo exhibitions at Ricco/Maresca Gallery and White Columns in New York and Galerie Christian Berst in Paris and participated in group shows at Gavin Brownуs Enterprise in New York and ABCD in Paris. He has been featured at Frieze New York, the New York Armory Show and NADA Miami. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C.
