WALTER WICK (American, b. 1953)
"Bubble on Stand", 1997; 4" x 5" film format, pigmented inkjet print; 18" x 22"; Provenance: Purchased at a Wadsworth Atheneum benefit auction; Note: Created by Wick for his book "A Drop of Water: A Book of Science and Wonder"; Walter Wick is the photographic illustrator of the "I SPY" series, and the author/illustrator of "Can You See What I See?". More than forty-five million copies of these two series are in print, translated into more than 10 languages. He is also the author and photographer of the award winning "A Drop of Water: A Book of Science and Wonder" and "Walter Wickуs Optical Tricks," a book of photographic illusions. Wick honed his technical skills as a commercial photographer for magazine clients such as Psychology Today, Discover, and Newsweek. During this period, he also invented many photographic puzzles for Games magazine. His work can be found in numerous collections and museums around the U.S., where he is often invited to exhibit his photography and the hand-built model sets made for his search-and-find masterpieces.
