"The ArtistÕs Mother Seated, in an Oriental Headdress: Half Length," printed between 1865-1867; Etching (framed); 5 3/4" x 5" (plate); Note: Under the direction of George Duplessis, Chief Curator at the Louvre, Durand was tasked with reproducing a series of intaglio prints from the museumÕs collection. Durand invented a new process of printing that allowed nearly precise replication of the original work. All of Amand DurandÕs engravings for the Louvre were stamped with his collectorÕs stamp (seen on verso in red, Lugt 2934)
