Meredith Hilferty
Meredith Hilferty heads the Fine Art department. A former Assistant Director with Jeffrey Fuller Fine Art, Ltd. in Philadelphia, she joined Rago's with a decade of experience in the evaluation of American and European art from the 18th-20th c. as well as experience with appraisals, client services and exhibition management. Since joining Rago's in early 2006, she has developed a department that sets records for diverse and significant art at many price points.
Ms. Hilferty's skills first came to the attention of the partners at Rago's in April 2004 during the sale of the Brutten Herrick Collection. Since joining Rago's in early 2006, she has developed informed, admired auctions of Pennsylvania Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary art, from Rago’s sale of the Reingold Collection of American Sculpture (which single-handedly revived the market for bronzes) to its blockbuster sale of the Kenneth Freed Collection of Contemporary Art. Juan Montoya, a New York-based interior designer with an international clientele and a loyal patron of Rago for many years, has called Ms. Hilferty’s sales “a great source for 20th C. art,” saying “You can find work well worth $100,000 and up, but what I like is that you also get exciting work priced between $5,000 and $50,000.”
Ms. Hilferty oversees four regularly scheduled fine art sales each year, as well as the sale of single-owner collections.
A graduate of Tyler School of Art, Temple University, she lives in Philadelphia.
